In peacetime, you thrive. In wartime, you survive.
Today, I published a piece called Democratic Dominoes: Why Crises Tip the Political Agenda to explore how the events of 2022 are turning political discourse.
One key idea that seems to resonate is the distinction between Peacetime Needs vs. Wartime Needs 👇
From my perspective, the climate crisis and the energy crisis in Europe are two examples where an “abstract threat” is becoming very real. When that happens, the safety of citizens is at risk.
Shit is hitting the fan and suddenly safety becomes a priority. For voters, for businesses, and as a result, for politicians as well.
A couple of follow-on questions:
- How can we use wartime momentum to trigger climate activism?
- Which countries are particularly good at wartime leadership?
- What are the most useful climate policies?
Let me know what you think 🙏
