N.A.S.A. is going back to the moon 🌝
This time, the mission is called Artemis - after Apollo’s twin sister.
The launch date for the Artemis 1 mission - a full-scale test of the rocket system - is scheduled for August 2022. Roughly 60 years after N.A.S.A. set their eyes on our moon.
60 years. It’s a very long time considering that we are not upping the ante but merely replicating what has been done over half a century ago.
I’m excited about this program since it will boost humanity’s imagination once more and is a critical stepping stone for the upcoming Mars missions.
The Apollo missions were the OG example of operational excellence and a strong social contract: Brining a man to the moon and back by the end of the 60s.
At the same time, I can’t help but think that there are challenges and narratives hidden in the deeper layers of the climate crisis, which could create a similar social contract.
Something to inspire. Something to rally the people. Our own first of a kind.
Not Space Race but Climate Race.
